Well, I think so. It's based off an Egyptian anibus, which was known to be dog-like.

Also Lucario is slightly based on ancient Egyptian boxers I do believe I heard once. Not sure of it's validness.

I also hear Lucario was based off a jackal as well.

Well ANUBIS was based on jackals mostly appearance , but jackals also were around the dead so that can explain him being the embalmer of the dead. So if he was based of Anubis he would look like a jackal.

I think Anubis is very interesting. Who is based off a jackal. Lucario is also my second favorite Pokemon.. xD Maybe the Anubis influence did it. lol
